Typical Day with Mystic Himalaya Trekking
Our trekking day commences with a morning delivery of tea, coffee, or hot chocolate to your room by your assistant guide. This is followed by a warm washing water bowl brought to your room. Then you will have a time to organize, packing essential items for the day into your day pack, including sunglasses, sunscreen, sun hat, mobile phone, camera, cash, passport, rain jacket, rain pant, day pack cover, fleece jacket, water bottle, and optional snacks. Once organized, leave your duffel bag outside your room for collection by our staff. We will give you an hour to prepare your duffel bag, and breakfast will be served in the main dining hall.
Our breakfast begins with hot porridge with milk and honey, accompanied by tea or coffee. This is followed by your choice of eggs with bread, butter, and jam. While you enjoy your breakfast, our porters head to the next campsite, aiming to reach it before the group. After breakfast, we recommend some stretching before hitting the trail. Ensure you haven't left anything in the lodge by thoroughly checking your room before departure, although our staff also conducts a final check. Our lead assistant guide will call "Zum Zum" in Nepali, meaning 'Let’s Go,' and we embark on a scenic stroll under the care of our reliable staff.
After approximately 4 hours of walking, we pause for lunch amidst nature's beauty, offering breathtaking mountain views. In higher elevations, most days involve lunch and camping due to rapid elevation gain. If the day is longer, we trek for 2 to 3 hours after lunch before checking into our lodge to rest. At 4 pm, tea is served with biscuits. A bowl of warm washing water is also provided in the afternoon, either before or after tea. Spend time with the group or our staff, listening to their stories. Dinner is served at 6:30 pm, beginning with a hot bowl of soup with snacks, followed by the main course and dessert. Hot drinks are offered five times a day to ensure you stay adequately hydrated. After dinner, our staff provides hot water bags to keep you warm during the night and refills your water bottle. This concludes our day.
Detail Itinerary
Upon arriving in Kathmandu, your trip leader or office representative will greet you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel. The rest of the afternoon is free for you to relax. In the early evening, your duffel bag, sleeping bag, inner liner, and down jacket will be distributed, followed by a trek briefing. At 7 pm, there's a welcome dinner at a traditional Nepali restaurant-an excellent chance to bond with your fellow group members before the trip begins. Enjoy your overnight stay in Kathmandu at Yak and Yeti hotel. (Dinner included)
Today, we'll explore the cultural treasures of the Kathmandu Valley, starting with a visit to Kathmandu Durbar Square, also known as Basantapur Durbar and Hanuman Dhoka. This ancient square, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, showcases buildings dating back to the 4th to 8th centuries, later expanded by the Malla rulers in the 17th century. The square is a living museum where past cultural practices are still observed, and you can visit the house of the living Goddess Kumari. Next, we'll visit Boudhanath Stupa, the largest stupa in Nepal and a significant Buddhist site. Located 8 kilometers from the city center, this massive mandala-based structure houses relics of Kassapa Buddha and is a vibrant center for Buddhist rituals and circumambulations, particularly in the mornings and evenings. After the tour, we will return back to our hotel. Enjoy your overnight stay in Kathmandu at Yak and Yeti hotel. (Breakfast included)
We'll start our day with a scenic flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara, where the mesmerizing views of the Himalayas and the landscape below will leave you in awe. Upon landing in Pokhara, the stunning vistas of the Annapurnas and the iconic Fishtail Mountain greet us, offering a breathtaking backdrop. From the airport, we will drive to Seuli Bazaar, the starting point of our trek, in a private car—a journey that takes about 2 hours. The drive itself is scenic, passing by the beautiful Seti River, known for its river rafting. Initially, the road is straightforward up to Dhampus Phedi, but it then ascends with a winding climb to Naudanda, with increasingly spectacular views as we approach Seuli Bazaar.
From Seuli Bazaar we'll undertake a steep climb to Ghandruk—a challenging ascent that serves as excellent preparation for reaching Khopra Ridge and Khair Lake. Ghandruk is a picturesque village predominantly inhabited by the Gurungs, renowned for their bravery and skills in the British Army. The village, with its traditional Gurung houses and the Annapurna Mountains as a backdrop, is exceptionally well-maintained and scenic. We will spend the night in Ghandruk. Overnight in a mountain lodge. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner included)
After leaving Ghandruk, the trail meanders through a lush, enchanting forest, where you might occasionally encounter water buffalos grazing peacefully in the open. The forest is rich with Daphne plants, the source of the delicate handmade Nepali paper. The path crosses bubbling streams and climbs gently alongside a picturesque waterfall, leading us to Deurali, where we pause for a well-deserved lunch.
Post-lunch, the trek continues through dense forests of rhododendron and oak. As you walk, you're enveloped by the tranquil sounds of nature, with the possibility of spotting Himalayan Langurs, Rhesus monkeys, and a variety of bird species. The journey to Tadapani feels almost magical, as the dense forest eventually opens up to reveal a small, charming village nestled amidst the rhododendrons. Tadapani, with its handful of lodges, offers a cozy retreat, overlooking breathtaking mountain views that seem almost within reach. The evening is spent here, surrounded by nature and the serene beauty of the mountains. Overnight in a mountain lodge. (Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner).

As the trail progresses, it becomes steeper in sections, winding along narrow ridge paths that gradually open up to reveal breathtaking views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. The crisp mountain air and the sense of remoteness create a truly invigorating experience.
Throughout the trek, we’re rewarded with stunning views of iconic peaks such as Machapuchare (Fishtail), Annapurna South, and Hiunchuli. The higher we climb, the more expansive and awe-inspiring the vistas become, making every step worth the effort.
Finally, we arrive at Dobato, a serene village perched on a ridge and surrounded by alpine meadows and forested hills. The sense of accomplishment upon reaching Dobato is amplified by the awe-inspiring landscapes that surround this tranquil haven. Overnight in a mountain lodge. (Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner)

Finally, we reach Chistibung, a quaint settlement surrounded by terraced fields and grazing pastures. The simple yet welcoming lodges offer a cozy place to rest and recharge. The tranquil setting, combined with the breathtaking Himalayan backdrop, makes it an ideal place to unwind.
Today’s trek offers a harmonious blend of natural beauty, peaceful trails, and a glimpse into the pastoral life of the region. The contrast between the open meadows and the shaded forest pathways adds a unique charm to the day’s adventure. Overnight in a mountain lodge. (Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner)
Today’s trek offers breathtaking ascent into the high alpine region, offering dramatic mountain views, pristine landscapes, and a sense of remoteness. This is one of the highlights of the Annapurna trekking, where the journey is as rewarding as the destination.
The trail begins with a steady climb through alpine pastures and grazing fields. Yak herds and Himalayan goats can often be seen grazing here, adding a rustic charm to the landscape.
As you ascend higher, the vegetation becomes sparser, giving way to open ridge lines with increasingly dramatic views of the surrounding peaks. The Annapurna South and Dhaulagiri ranges come into full view, dominating the skyline with their grandeur.
The trail provides stunning 360-degree vistas of the snow-capped Himalayas, including Nilgiri, Tukuche, and Bharha Shikhar (Fang). The expansive views, combined with the serene atmosphere, make this a truly unforgettable part of the trek.
Upon reaching Khopra Ridge, the effort of the climb is rewarded with one of the best vantage points in the region. The ridge offers jaw-dropping views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges, along with the Kali Gandaki Valley below. Khopra Ridge is renowned for its peaceful setting, far removed from the busier trekking routes.
The trek from Chistibung to Khopra Ridge is a perfect mix of challenge and reward. The sense of accomplishment upon reaching the ridge, coupled with the unparalleled mountain views, makes this an unforgettable experience in the Annapurna region. Overnight in a mountain lodge. (Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner)
Today we venture into the spiritual journey as our trek leads to the holy site of Khair Lake which is nestled amidst towering Himalayan peaks, making it a breathtaking and serene ambiance.
The day begins early to ensure ample time to reach and return from the lake. The trail is imbued with a spiritual vibe as Khair Lake is considered sacred by the local Gurung and Magar communities. Pilgrims often visit during the Janai Purnima festival to worship at the lake and nearby shrine.
The path from Khopra Ridge is steep and demanding, winding through rocky trails, alpine meadows, and high-altitude landscapes. Sparse vegetation and rugged terrain reflect the remoteness of this area.
As you climb higher, the views become more dramatic. The towering peaks of Annapurna South, Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, and Bharha Shikhar (Fang) dominate the horizon. The sheer scale of these mountains against the clear blue sky is awe-inspiring.
Khair Lake sits serenely at the base of towering cliffs, its pristine turquoise waters reflecting the surrounding peaks. The tranquil environment and panoramic vistas make the effort of the climb worthwhile. Nearby, you’ll find a small temple dedicated to Goddess Kali, a site of local religious significance.
After spending some time absorbing the spiritual energy and natural beauty of Khair Lake, the descent back to Khopra Ridge offers a chance to retrace your steps while enjoying the changing light on the mountains.
The trek from Khopra Ridge to Khair Lake is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, combining physical challenge with spiritual fulfillment. The serene beauty of the lake, coupled with the awe-inspiring Himalayan backdrop, leaves trekkers with lasting memories of this sacred and remote journey.
What goes up must come down, and today’s trek is a perfect example of that. Our journey takes us on a scenic descent, transitioning from the high alpine meadows to lush rhododendron and oak forests. The trail is alive with the sound of chirping birds and the gentle rustling of leaves, creating a tranquil atmosphere.
During spring, the path bursts into vibrant hues as blooming rhododendrons line the way, adding a touch of magic to the trek. We’ll pause for lunch at a picturesque picnic spot, soaking in the serene surroundings before continuing our descent.
The trail leads us through dense forests, passing by a local hydropower station and a stunning waterfall that adds to the charm of the journey. As we near Swotha Village, the landscape shifts to terraced fields and traditional houses, offering an authentic glimpse into the rural lifestyle of the Gurung and Magar communities. Overnight in a mountain lodge. (Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner included)
Today, we bid farewell to the picturesque village of Swotha. As the morning unfolds, the majestic Dhaulagiri dominates the skyline, offering a breathtaking start to the day. Swotha, with its fertile soil and favorable location, stands out as a prime village for farming in the region. The villagers are warm and welcoming, and their traditional Gurung and Magar-style houses with slate roofs add to the village’s charm.
Our trail begins with a descent to the Swotha River, where we cross a suspension bridge to reach the other side of the valley. From here, the path takes us on a gradual ascent toward Chitre, a small village located along the Annapurna Circuit Trail. After a brief stop in Chitre, we continue our gradual climb to Ghorepani, a popular trekking hub.
In Ghorepani, we pause for lunch, enjoying the stunning views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. This village is a key stop for trekkers heading to Poon Hill, and you’ll notice numerous lodges catering to adventurers.
After lunch, the trail descends through lush rhododendron forests, offering shaded paths under a vibrant canopy. The trek continues past charming villages and flowing streams, creating a serene and scenic atmosphere. The trail’s lush greenery guides us to the quaint village of Ulleri, where we settle in for the night. Overnight in a mountain lodge. (Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner included)
Today, we embark on a scenic drive from Ulleri to Pokhara, traveling along Himalayan rough roads that pass through terraced farmlands and charming villages, offering stunning views of the surrounding landscapes.
The road descends in a zigzag pattern, leading us to Hille, a vibrant village situated close to the Bhurungdi Khola. Just before reaching Hille, we cross the river on a temporary metal bridge. Beyond Hille, the road smooths out, providing a comfortable ride with the Bhurungdi Khola flowing gracefully on your right and picturesque farmland villages spread across both sides of the road. Along the way, you’ll witness the daily life of villagers and cheerful children heading to school.
We make a brief stop at Birethanti to check out with the Annapurna Conservation Office by presenting our trekking permits. From there, the road becomes bumpy as we make our way to Nayapul. Once we reach Nayapul, we transition to a paved tarmac road that offers a smooth ride through stunning scenery.
The road ascends to Naudanda, where you’ll enjoy a bird’s-eye view of Pokhara city and the surrounding farmlands. From Naudanda, it’s a short one-hour drive to our hotel in Pokhara, which is centrally located in the lively tourist district by the serene Phewa Lake.
Pokhara’s lakeside area is vibrant, filled with cafes, restaurants, and shops, making it a delightful place to unwind. The city also offers a mix of natural beauty and adventure, with attractions like Davis Falls, World Peace Pagoda, and caves, as well as activities such as paragliding, zip-lining, and helicopter tours. Nepal Poon hill trek and city tour
For anyone considering doing a Nepal tour, we highly recommend Binoy Rai, the owner of Mystic Himalaya Trekking and Expedition. We were really impressed by the efficiency, courtesy and the caring attitude demonstrated by Binoy in handling all our questions in such an easy manner. We highly recommend them for any future travelling prospects.EBC 2018 – Amazing
I completed the Everest Base Camp trek with my wife and two great friends in October 2018. The trip was amazing with some of the best scenery on the planet. The Nepalese people are wonderful and so welcoming to visitors. Our trip and itinerary was perfectly put together by Binoy and the team at Mystic Himalaya and the trek superbly guided by Chogyal. This was my second EBC trek organized by Binoy and we’re already planning our return in 2020 to explore the Annapurna region. I highly recommend Mystic Himalaya Trekking and look forward to my next trek with them.Amazeballs
After my husband's 12 years of incessant nagging, I finally agreed to trek to Everest Base Camp. Having kept in contact with Binoy from his last trek 16 years ago, we had the privilege of trekking with Mystic Himalaya. The professionalism and care shown by the Mystic team was outstanding. From the moment we were picked up from the airport, to the moment we were dropped back, we were completely taken care of. Everything was so well organised, and our trekking crew, Chogyal, Pemba, Buddhi and Sujan were fantastic, every step of the way. We will definitely be back.Wonderful trip to Nepal
We recently went on a trek and tour with Mystic Himalaya Trekking. It was one of the most adventurous and fun trips we have ever been on. One of the owners and our trekking guide named Binoy was the absolute best. I can’t even begin to say how informative he was about the area and how he attended to our every need. He has his own personal crew that hauled our bags and they cooked all our meals. They were so delicious. I would recommend anyone considering going on a trek to Nepal to check them out. I can’t imagine anyone else could be better than they were. Thanks for a memorable and amazing trip.Absolutely the best Nepal Guides
My son and I had the privilege of trekking with Pranoy and Pemba in the Mustang district, and it was an amazing experience. What sets the Mystic Himalaya experience above other treks is the depth of cultural knowledge and history that the guides have to offer. In addition to breathtaking scenery, we got a fascinating look at the history, architecture, and culture of that region, presented by a guide who is articulate and very well-educated in his field. And let's talk about logistics. We managed to hit the tail end of the monsoon season and got a LOT of rain. With limited time (only one week), our Plan A was to fly to Jomsom and start trekking there. Since planes weren't flying (and didn't for 3 more days), Pranoy got us a driver. We drove for a day and were halted by a massive landslide. Pranoy came up with a new itinerary, and we got some spectacular hiking on our way to Jomsom. With each new "obstacle," Pranoy came up with a new plan and we had a superb trek. We were joking that we went through Plan A, Plan B, Plan C, etc. and were on Plan E by the end. Every bit of it was gorgeous and a lot of fun! With all of those changes, we felt safe and extremely well cared-for. Food was excellent -- supervised and sometimes prepared by Pemba. Accommodations were very comfortable and exceeded expectations. Best of all, Pranoy stayed in constant communication with locals and other guides to ensure our safety every step of the way. With this team, you are working with real professionals that have guided for National Geographic. I wouldn't trek with anyone else -- they are the best!Add a Review
